Did you know that there are 13 food deserts in Milwaukee County. That means that over 124,000 people don’t have easy access to fresh fruit and veggies from a grocery store or farmer’s market. They are city wide and range from the Northside to the Southside of the city.
The big picture… the total population in the city of Milwaukee is 594,548. With 124,000 people living in food deserts that means that 21% of Milwaukee’s population lives in a food desert. LET THAT SINK IN.
